Grace and Gravity

When I was 7, I came home from school one day to find my father bulldozing a hole in the backyard. He built a 25’ x 50‘ in ground swimming pool.

If you ask me what heaven is, I will tell you that it is floating in the pool, watching my shadow drift and warp, suspended by blue water and white sunlight.

This weightlessness and fluid elegance is not unlike that of a dancer, who can move through the air and across the ground with agility and grace.

Layering paintings of these subjects with translucent panels of textiles and glass convey this sense of peace and animate the abstract elements of water and air.
